Production of acid oil using enzymes

Keclon has developed an acid oil production system that greatly reduces the environmental impact compared to the traditional method that uses strong acids. This process can be applied to different byproducts of the vegetable oil industry such as gums, soapstocks, or combinations of both, which are treated by an exclusive enzymatic preparation. The enzymatically obtained acid oil has superior characteristics than those obtained through chemical approaches, offering multiple industrial uses such as an additive in animal feed, synthesis of 2nd generation biodiesel and boiler fuels or heating. All these industrial uses offer oil processors the opportunity to commercialize products that can capture higher prices than those of the gums and/or soapstocks, which are the raw materials of origin.
